Advancing Plant Health Through Science, Innovation, and Extension

Understanding plant disease through host–pathogen interactions, immunometabolism, and systems biology, and translating that knowledge into diagnostics, therapeutics, and precision disease-management strategies across diverse cropping systems.

I am a plant pathologist dedicated to advancing crop health through translational research that bridges molecular discovery, plant biology, and practical disease management. My research investigates how plants respond to pathogens and environmental stress across molecular, metabolic, physiological, and whole-plant levels. By studying the complex interactions among plants, pathogens, insect vectors, and the surrounding environment, I develop science-based solutions that enhance crop resilience and support sustainable agricultural production, with a particular emphasis on specialty crops and Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA).

My research integrates multi-omics, bioinformatics, greenhouse experimentation, and field-based studies to uncover the biological mechanisms underlying plant resistance, susceptibility, and resilience to fungal and bacterial diseases. I work across diverse cropping systems, including citrus, vegetables, cereals, and legumes, to improve disease diagnostics, understand plant–microbe interactions, and develop innovative strategies for integrated disease management.

Beyond fundamental discovery, my work is driven by the goal of delivering practical solutions that benefit agriculture. I collaborate with growers, Extension specialists, industry partners, and interdisciplinary research teams to translate scientific discoveries into effective disease management strategies. Through the integration of systems biology, innovative technologies, and stakeholder-driven research, I strive to strengthen crop health, improve agricultural sustainability, and enhance the resilience of modern cropping systems.
